About Remington
Remington Products, more commonly known as simply Remington is a worldwide personal care corporation which manufactures razors, epilators and hair care products for both men and women. A subsidiary of Spectrum Brands, Remington Products Company L.L.C. was formed in 1979 and made a mark in history with its electric shavers. The popularity of the shavers skyrocketed after Victor Kiam, the owner turned a television pitchman. Apart from the shavers, Remington Products also offers a number of other grooming and personal care products. Based in Connecticut, Remington Products operates in more than ten countries over the globe and also runs more than a hundred retail stores, spread over the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States. The Kiam family still retains the majority interest in the firm though Vestar Capital Partners control the board of directors.
As the story goes, Kiam bought Remington after his wife bought him an electric shaver and he liked it so much that he decided to use up all his funds and buy up the organization. Remington Products used this story as a part of their marketing campaign as well, Kiam shot up a number of advertisements with this story and this led to major public attraction. As the advertisement went, "When my wife bought me a Remington shaver, I was so impressed I bought the company". As years progressed, Remington kept introducing better versions of the same products and capturing the market.
