A tagline which struck chord with every woman on this globe, ‘Maybe she is born with it, maybe it’s Maybelline’! Found in 1915, Maybelline New York is an American cosmetic brand which is owned by L’Oreal.  Bringing exclusive cosmetics from the rampwalk to the sidewalk Maybelline has been a champion in sales for numerous years now. Created by T.L Willaims, a New York chemist the name was inspired by his sister, Maybel. n his younger years, Williams saw Maybel applying Vaseline and coal dust to her lashes to give it a fuller look. Using a small laboratory he remade a polished version of this product and marketed it under the name Lash-Brow-Ine. The name was so unpopular that he revised it to Maybelline, a combination of Maybel and Vaseline.

The rest is history and soon this revolutionary mascara took the world by storm. In 1967 Williams sold the organizations to Schering-Plough and in 1990 it was sold to Wasserstein Perella, a New York Investment firm. Maybelline was acquired by L’Oreal Cosmetics in the year 1996.  What started with eye make up later expanded to face, lips and other cosmetics. Julia Stegner, Jessica White, Erin Wasson, Kemp Muhl, Emily DiDonato, Lisalla Montenegro are few names associated with Maybelline.
