Adidas saw modest beginnings in 1920, when Adolf "Adi" Dassler (Adi) began manufacturing shoes in the wash kitchen of his mother with the simple vision to make the best possible equipment for every sportsperson. Along with a focus on manufacturing, Adi also thought about optimizing his products in every possible way. He was one of the very first entrepreneurs in the sports goods industry to introduce promotions to bring visibility to his products. Soon popular athletes of that time like Jesse Owens, Muhammad Ali, Max Schmeling, Sepp Herberger and Franz Beckenbauer started flaunting their love and admiration for Adidas shoes.
