Garnier is a brand of hair care and skincare products that belongs to cosmetics giant L’Oreal. Garnier was born way back in 1904, when its creator Alfred Garnier made a hair tonic. The company was established in the 1920s as Laboratories Garnier, producing hair care products made from organic ingredients. In 1936, Garnier for the first time brought out its first sunscreen products. Garnier first introduced a hair washing liquid to the world which was still used to washing hair with soap. This company was purchased by L’Oreal Group in 1965. Over the years, Garnier has continued its efforts to bring out the best products incorporating the natural ingredients and enhance the natural beauty of the users. It lays great emphasis on research and development and publishes its finding in eminent research journals. It also follows product innovation and launches new products from time to time. Its products are marketed under three sub brands – Fructis, Nutrisse and Nutritionist. Nutrisee is a line of hair color that was released in 2002.

It entered the Indian market in 1991 with its Ultra Doux shampoo and very soon gained a prominent presence as a consumer brand made for mass market.
